5th and 6th graders are working in the STEAM center on mini golf course holes this quarter. Science – Force, Mass, Density dealing with different types of balls and putters. Technology – designing putters in Tinker-CAD and printing them with the 3D printer. Engineering/Art – Hole and putter design. Random shape was selected and teams added obstacles. They were limited to some cardboard, labels, and shredded paper. Math – using Mean, Median, and Mode to help determine the ‘Par’ for their hole (by hand and with their Chromebooks). The teams also designed a ‘sign’ in google slides for their hole showing the starting point, name chosen for their hole, par, and team member names.
